Dancing for weight loss? Sure - why not? Any movement will help you get more fit, lose more weight, and stay thin longer after you've lost the weight. And what movement could be more fun than dance?

The best part of dancing for weight loss is that it doesn't feel like "exercising." It feels like fun!

If you haven't danced for a long time, you may want to join a group or class to get started again. If you check your local community college or parks department should be able to find a class that caters to people of your age and experience level.

Too clumsy? Don't worry about it - dance will get you moving, and you'll soon find that you're much more sure of yourself, much more graceful and poised - even off the dance floor.

Dancing for weight loss may not be very strenuous, but it works.

Can dancing really help you lose weight? Well, maybe not as much as weight lifting or a serious aerobic workout. But dance is an excellent exercise for people who haven't had much exercise recently. With almost any form of dance, from ultra-modern punk to the ballroom waltz, the dance floor allows people of all abilities and experience to have fun.

And fun can keep you motivated. Especially when you take your partner, or find new ones on the dance floor who become good friends. And 'fess up - haven't you always wanted to take a dance class - but were just too shy to give it a shot? Weight loss may be just the excuse you need to do something you've always wanted to do.
