Jogging for weight loss
For years, jogging has been a popular exercise for weight loss and
weight maintenance. What is jogging, exactly? According to an online
dictionary, jogging is "Running at a low rate of speed. It can
be done as a means of conditioning or for general health and well being."
Jogging is not what you do when the tiger is chasing you, but it is
a good, low-impact aerobic exercise to help you lose weight. Many people
begin their weight loss program with walking, then move up to jogging
when they've improved their lung capacity and general well-being. Running
comes last - when your muscles and heart can take the increased exercise
level.
Jogging can help you with your weight loss plan, because you'll be
working the largest muscles in your body. But please work up to it slowly
if you haven't had much exercise in the recent past. Jogging and running
put more stress on the feet and knees - an especially important consideration
if you're overweight.
